We have been lucky enough to highlight 2 wines from different villages from Nicolas' excellent stock in previous cases. And now we are brining ou a Chambolle from 1996. This is the advantage of being a negociant in Burgundy today - you can get wines from a large variety of different villages. At the same time, you can compare this more evolved Chambolle to the younger specimen in the case. |
This wine has a beautiful color it is limpid, it has a certain sparkle to it. The aromas are intense - a strong floral nose, but the fresh fruit has let way for slightly dried fruits. The taste is all Chambolle; the elegance is there but so is a bit of acidity that is very distinctive in the 1996 vintage. Not only does this wine represent its appellation well but also its vintage.
The Saint Anne fountain dates back to 1865.
