We were fortunate enough to feature Yvan Dufouleur's Hautes Côtes de Nuits Dames Huguette Red wine in our first red tasting case. Now we are very pleased to bring you both red and white Hautes Côtes de Nuits Dames Huguette from the 1999 vintage. Yvan has done an excellent job with both of these wines and his growing collection of metals from tasting competitions attests to that. Because the region is a new area for wine making (only 100 years or so), it is unknown territory and all land is classified as a regional Burgundy appellation.
As for this white selection, we are back to 100% chardonnay, this wine has a dark, strong color. The nose is slightly toasted as well as presenting other hints of its oak aging. Some floral aromas are also present. The attack is rich, mildly-thick with a clean, clear finish. This wine not only represents its appellation well, it surpasses those expectations due to skilled wine-making. Drink over the next 12 to 18 months.
