Domaine Chantal Lescure is one of the wineries to watch over the next few years. The family-owned winery owns 55 acres of land in the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits and their wines are improving dramatically year after year. This particular wine, Clos de Vougeot 1998, has caught our eye - it has a flattering approach, soft, and elegant. It has the advantage of the structured vintage 98 with the grace of a grand cru. Over 70% of the vines on their plot are over 40 years old and the field is located in the upper-middle portion of the Clos de Vougeot parcel. Wines are aged in oak barrels for 20 months, which is why the new oak percentage is 30 - 40%. This keeps the elegance of the wine without being too woody.
Clos de Vougeot is the largest grand cru field in Burgundy with 125 acres. It is also the greatest example of the complex ownership in Burgundy - there are 86 different and independent owners!

So we hope you enjoy this Clos de Vougeot from Domaine Chantal Lescure - now we only have 85 owners left to try!
