The 1998 vintage for the white wine villages of the Côte de Beaune (Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet) was quite an adventure! The challenge started the day after Easter when an unseasonable frost hit. Then, later in the growing season, oidium or powdery mildew set in. These events lowered the overall production of these famous whites. Then mother nature smiled on us with dry, sunny weather just before the harvest. This allowed the remaining grapes to sufficiently ripen. |

| This wine-maker is François Buisson Baulthaud, who took over from his father in 1985. His philosophy is simple: the grape and the terroir make the wine. His job is to make it all come together. He uses little new oak as he feel the wood could overpower the wines. It is best to let the grapes speak for themselves. |
