Meursault Les Narvaux 2000
							Domaine Borgeot

Pascal and Laurent Borgeot's father ran their 50-acre family estate until 1984 when his sons took over operations. The winery is located in Remigny in the Côte Chalonaise and they own vines in Santenay, Chassagne-Montrachet and other villages. Their contacts in the southern Côte de Beaune allowed them to start a negociant business which is the origin of this wine. They purchase the grapes and make the wine as if it was from one of their family-owned fields.

The vines here are more than 50 years old, on average. The wine is put in 30% new oak barrels immediately after the press and they stay there until bottling. They are fined and slightly filtered, depending on the vintage. The lees are stirred everyday for a full and rich result.

This village field "Narvaux" is the first name mentioned when local winemakers talk about wines which should be promoted from village to premier cru, if that ever happened (which it doesn't!). It is said to have the most class, is more complex and ages longer than other Meursault villages.

When tasting this wine, make sure to remember that it is a young 2000 wine, out of the barrel just a few months ago (our other selections are 1999). Because of its youth, this wine reminds us of some barrel tastings that we have the pleasure to do in the region. Don't hesitate to carafe it before serving.

It has a light, fresh color. The nose is citrus, notably grapefruit as well as a strong green apple aroma. This family of aromas can be attributed to the youth of the wine. The attack is very full bodied, then the wave of well-balanced acidity takes over, followed by a wave of "gras" leading to a long length. For drinking now or in the next few years, we suggest this wine as a cocktail. Otherwise, wait 3 to 5 years to discover a new aspect of its character. It will age well over time - if you have the cellar and the patience.
