Bouchard Père & Fils has benefited in recent years from extensive investment from its owners, the Henriot family. They were able to purchase entire estates and added that land to their already impressive range of wines from the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. This particular acquisition in Nuits St Georges has given them a full-bodied, bold wine from the vineyards mid-slope just south of the town of Nuits St Georges.  It is clear that the first vintage of this wine by Bouchard Père & Fils in 1997 is a great success. It continues our infatuation with the 1997 vintage (soft and approachable wines) all the while combining it with a strong, structured wine. It is possible to drink now for those who enjoy a robust wine, but without overly aggressive tannins. Aging is also an option, perhaps 5 to 7 years. |
