Great white burgundies! With this mixed case we are pleased
to bring you some of our very favorite “drinking”
wines – meaning you don’t have to save them but
can enjoy them now for their freshness. They are “ready-to-drink”
wines that you can drink now or within the next 3 years.
Bourgogne blanc 2001 Domaine Trapet: This winery
is located in Gevrey Chambertin and is one of the village’s
stars for their excellent village, premier cru and grand cru
pinot noirs. But we have found this great value Bourgogne
blanc which beautifully represents what a Bourgogne blanc
should be! Not only is it a great value, but shows excellent
fruit and a lively taste that makes it a wonderful example
of quality chardonnay at an accessible price level. It is
a wine you don’t need an excuse to drink – celebrate
any day of the week and enjoy!
We have tricked many of our wine-making friends by slipping
this wine as a “pirate bottle” into blind tastings
and they always guess village to premier cru quality from
some top villages of the Côte de Beaune.

Auxey Duresses Veilles vignes 2001 Domaine Pascal
Prunier Bonheur: Auxey Duresses is one of the best
« diamond in the rough » villages of Burgundy.
It is located right next to Meursault, arguably one of the
most reputed white wine producing villages in the world. But
Auxey produces reds and white wines, which always takes a
little something away from the reputation of one or the other.
Auxey is also located in the valley where temperatures are
lower. The resulting wines are more mineral then Meursault
but marry well with shellfish and seafood or simply a pleasant
cocktail. Auxey’s produces up-front, user-friendly wines
that have maintained the village’s solid and discreet
reputation over the centuries. Burgundians drink and love
Auxey because this is a wonderful example of a village producing
great value for money.

Domaine Pascal Prunier Bonheur is run by Pascal Prunier
and his wife. Pascal is from Auxey Duresses where his family
has been the prominent vineyard family for generations.

Meursault 1er Cru Les Poruzots 2000 Domaine Buisson
Batthault : With this selection we would like to mark
the passing of the flame onto the next generation. In early
November of last year, Mr. Buisson Batthault senior passed
away. His son, François, has been running the daily
operations for a number of years, but, in reality, they worked
hand-in-hand since his father never really managed to retire.
He needed to the contact with the vines, the cellars and with
the wines produced each year. François has always tried
to make wines like his father – that will stand the
test of time – and he told us about wines they shared
with friends during the late-November Paulée de Meursault
where producers celebrate the end of the Hospices de Beaune
auction with a great “BYO” celebration. François’
heart was not with the fête, but it was one of his father’s
favorite events so he decided to go in his honor and he took
some bottles of Meursault 1er cru from the 1960s and 1970s.
The were appreciated as some of the best older vintage whites
of the banquet.

Saint Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly 2002 Marc Colin
: In one word, this wine is rich. The nose smells of white
flowers, honeysuckle, lightly buttery with a touch of caramel.
Very pleasant aromas. The flavors are round, smooth, full-bodied
with a lively finish that leaves you thirsty for more. Overall,
this wine has great balance. It can be drunk now or kept for
the future, the next 2 or 3 years or so. It would be great
with a cocktail dinner, or perhaps scallops, lobster or fish
with a clear butter sauce.
